Kopitar lifts Kings over Coyotes
Hockey Betting Lines
12/27/2006 - Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Anze Kopitar scored the winning goal in the shootout as the Los Angeles Kings knocked off the Phoenix Coyotes, 4-3, at the Staples Center.
Kopitar was the second shooter for the Kings and he buried a wrister over the right pad of Mikael Tellqvist. Mike Comrie took the second shot for the Coyotes, but Barry Brust made a waffle pad save on his wrist shot.
Dustin Brown then sealed the victory when his shot was initially stopped by Tellqvist, but it retained enough momentum to trickle past the goaltender.
Derek Armstrong had a goal and an assist and Brust stopped 27 shots for the Kings, who stopped a four-game losing streak.
Yanic Perreault had a goal and an assist while Tellqvist made 34 saves for the Coyotes, who have lost three of their last four games.
Despite 26 shots being thrown on net in the first period, 14 by Phoenix and 12 by the Kings, neither team got on the scoreboard in the frame.
The Coyotes grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second period when Perreault accepted a pass from Travis Roche down low on the left side and flicked the puck over the right pad of Brust at the 7:54 mark.
The Kings took a 2-1 lead in the third with a pair of goals.
A wrist shot by Brent Sopel in the high slot hit a body in front of the net, but the puck popped to the right side and Armstrong tapped it into the net 4:33 in.
At the halfway mark of the frame Alexander Frolov sent a pass from the low left side of the net to the right side where Rob Blake one-timed it past Tellqvist.
Phoenix, though, scored a pair of goals separated by 1:17 to assume a 3-2 lead.
A shot by Zbynek Michalek from the high slot was redirected into the right corner of the net by Fredrik Sjostrom to tie the game with 7:32 to play.
Shortly thereafter, Perreault sent a pass from the low left side of the net out front where Oleg Saprykin one-timed it past Brust with 6:15 to play.
The Kings, however, pulled Brust from the net and the move paid off as a no- look pass by Kopitar from the right side found its way to the stick of Sean Avery, who swept the puck under the right pad of Joseph with 38 seconds to play.

Will Ohio State continue to run the table in College Football betting odds?
MySportsbook.com favors Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Golden Bears in this weekend's big games.
NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 21 - My Sportsbook NCAA football fans: things are beginning to get really interesting on college football's national stage. Following last weekend's "Separation Saturday", which included five teams ranked in the top 15 dropping games, the BCS Championship picture is beginning to take shape - with Ohio State leading the charge. And, according to odds makers at MySportsbook.com, the number-one-ranked Buckeyes will continue their winning ways this weekend.
Revenge will be the name of the game in Columbus this Saturday, as Ohio State looks to even the score following last season's loss to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions. Although Penn State are listed as 16.5 point underdogs, they are 11-10 all-time versus the Buckeyes. Paterno and the Lions, however, will have to shut down Heisman Trophy favorite Troy Smith who has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Speaking of revenge, Notre Dame will be out for some against Michigan State, following last year's 44 - 41 overtime loss to the Spartans in South Bend. The thirteenth-ranked Irish, listed as a 3-point favorite, will also be looking to avenge last Saturday's thrashing from the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, meanwhile, have won seven of the last nine match-ups against Notre Dame and are coming off an impressive 38-23 victory over Pittsburgh.
Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.
